that ghost

i've been in love with that ghosts' music ever since someone played me his album 'young fridays' released on two syllable records. i listened to it again and again for a coule of weeks. it is exactly the kind of bedroom music i am into. sometimes noisy, sometimes just fragile songs played on acoustic guitar with lyrics i can completely relate to. you don't get even the smallest chance to get bored.

that ghost also released great 7" single on transparent.

really good stuff.

band of the day #2: memoryhouse

memoryhouse has to be one of the best bands around now. i was catched immediately right after i put on 'the years' ep, which you can download for free on their myspace (do it!).
they're from canada and recently released 'to the lighthouse" 7" on arcade sound ltd.

and please, don't confuse them with these guys though they're also cool.

the ending of this song gives me shivers every time i listen to it. pure beauty!

you don't like rock'n'roll

the newest hunx and the punx's (punkettes) video. good stuff. 'gay singles' reissue now on true panther sounds.

thank you, delicious scopitone

lonely galaxy debut ep coming soon on transparent

lonely galaxy is a project of harry granger-howell who used to play in video nasties. after the band broke up, he started recording music by himself. the result is a couple of most beautiful and heartfelt songs i've ever heard. transparent will release his debut 10" ep in april.

tracklist:
have a heart
time
waiting
so low

girls - end of the world

thousands of words have been written about girls already. i can only say that i love this band to death. they plan to release a new ep later this year (summer?) and next album next year. but few weeks ago, they put out a single of morning light b/w with skeeter davis' cover of 'end of the world'. this is the video for the early version of the song made by scott garner. again, it is beyond beautiful.

band of the day #1: lemonade

to be honest, i wasn't the biggest fan of the first album of lemonade. i thought it was quite ok but nothing that special. my whole relationship with this band changed when i first saw the video for their new song 'lifted'. i imediately fell in love with this song and couldn't wait for their new ep to be released. 'pure moods' came out recently on true panther sounds and the songs on it are one of the most refreshing electronic music up to date. check out their myspace and listen to 'lifted' and 'underwater sonics' and then go buy the 12". it's worth it!

cults to release debut single on forest family records!!

i've been listening to these three songs of cults quite a lot lately. the members of cults are two students of film, originally from san diego, now based in new york. they've been making music for just a couple of months when gorilla vs bear first posted their stellar song 'go outside'. then things went fast, they became a new blogosphere sensation and got 'best new music' on pitchfork.

now they're releasing their debut single 7" including 'go outside' and 'most wanted' on a new label forest family records, which is run by the awesome guys behind weekly tape deck and gorilla vs bear. i expect big things to come. can't wait!

ivansxtc

this video of ivansxtc's yesterday (made by perfume genius) was being blogged quite a lot few months ago. but since then, nothing new happened. we can only enjoy these three brilliant songs on his myspace. they are highly recommended. no further info available.
